EVP Classification Empty
PostSubject: EVP Classification   EVP Classification I_icon_minitimeFri Aug 07, 2009 1:50 am

The following classification system was devised by Sarah Estep, founder
of AA-EVP, who say that the Survival Hypothesis is the most effective
in answering questions they have had about EVPs (they believe that
human beings exist both before and after a physical life on this planet
and that EVPs are messages from 'spirits').

CLASS A

This
type of EVP is clear and can be heard without headphones. It is very
distinct and the listener will be able to make out exactly what is
being said. Everyone who listens to it will agree on what they are
hearing.

CLASS B

Quite a loud EVP and can sometimes be
heard without headphones, although only usually audible to someone who
is experienced in the art of listening to EVPs. Most people will hear
it but only after being told what to listen for.

CLASS C

Very
faint and can barely be heard. Usually it is not possible to decipher
this type of EVP. This type of EVP may exhibit strange, even
paranormal, characteristics and may sound almost mechanical. Save this
class of EVP for reference only.

* You are more likely to capture EVP at night or during stormy weather.

* EVPs are usually short, ranging from one word to short phrases or sentences.

*
The 'voices' recorded often sound strange and often have a similar
'ring' to them. (Due to a shift in frequency outside of the normal
human voice frequency range).

* It is obvious to the listener
that some voices are male or female, old or young or even mechanical or
"human" sounding. Some EVPs include someone singing.

* Often a click or thud is heard immediately before a recorded EVP.

NB : Not all EVPs contain speech - some are singing, humming, coughs, grunts etc.

Hope this is of interest to everyone. There is more to follow.
I didn't know about the click/thud often being heard prior to an Evp
being caught. I have dismissed these previously. I have strange clicks
recorded from Hailes prison pit where we captured some EVPs . Of
interest too, is that it was a stormy night that night.

Yet more info on EVP classification.
For the following system you would label an EVP with letter-number-letter which crresponds to its quality-source, eg.

A1M = clearly heard EVP whose content relates to the immediate surroundings. Multiple voices heard.

B3Y
= an EVP which has been processsed but we all can make out what is
being said. It consists of a few random words that don't make sense (to
us) and the voice belongs to a man.

EVP CLASSIFICATION

SOURCE

Multiple voices = M
Cannot make out gender or age = U
Voice is that of a child =W
Woman's voice = X
Man's voice = Y
Voice has animal characteristics = Z

CONTENT

Relates to surroundings = 1
Unrelated to the surroundings but meaningful = 2
Gibberish/groups of unrelated words = 3
Utterances such as grunts/groans = 4
Non-vocal
sounds such as bangs, clicks, taps. Processing will result in different
messages being heard and these are probably due to the processing. Some
may hear nothing and others may hear voices = 5

QUALITY

Clearly heard without processing and all who hear it agree on what is recorded = A
Most people can decipher the conent and there is little disagreement on what is recorded. Will be processed = B
Processed
but still hard to hear. Some disagreement on what is recorded and some
listeners will not be able to hear it at all = C (Most common quality
of valid EVP)
Need processing to make out anything at all and even
then there will be disagreement over content and some people may still
not hear anything = D
(Very common but not reliable)
