Earthbound Spirit

Thiis post is based on my own thoughts, experiences to date and stuff I have found out on the internet.

Discernment
is very important when dealing with the 'spirit' world. Is the spirit
you are communicating nasty or nice? Is it just visiting or is it
earthbound? Does it have anything useful to pass on or does it
ultimately want to possess you? Handy wee things to know really!

The
majority of spirits causing 'hauntings' are earthbound, in which case
they need help. An earthbound spirit is the spirit of a dead human
being who has not passed over properly and has not gone to where he/she
was supposed to go (heaven, the light, a higher plane or whatever your
belief is).

The reasons for this are numerous. The deceased
person could have unfinished business, may be trying to pass a message
on to a loved one or to let them know that there is life after death.

Guilt
can also be the cause. Suicide victims can feely guilty about their
actions and the hurt they have caused their loved ones.

The
living can also hinder a spirit's progression to the other side. Being
obsessed with the person who has died and not letting go makes the
spirit unwilling to go.

Then there are people who die suddenly
and unexpectedly. They 'wake up' dead and either can't or won't believe
what has happened to them. In this case the spirit may hang about at
the scene of his/her death and try to make conatct with people who come
close (emergency personnel, nurses, doctors etc are prone to spirit
attachment for this very reason -joy!)

Some spirits, though, do
realise that they are dead. They do not cross over out of fear or
guilt. They are tied due to their own fears. They may be afraid of
going to hell or being judged. They may be worried that if they allow
themselves to move on that this will be the end of their
consciousness/life.

Earthbound spirits need help to move on or if unwilling and are causing problems then they need to be moved on forcibly
These type of spirits are the most dangerous to us. An earthbound
spirit cannot obtain the energy it needs and may 'feed' off a human
host who has similar feelings as it does. Like attracts like so to
speak. If a person continually has negative thoughts (eg due to low
self-esteem, anger, jealousy, hatred, sadness) then he/she is more
likely to attract a spirit which feed on these. Hence the reason that
ouija boards etc are considered to be dangerous. Earthbound spirits
which still have the emotions and desires that they had when alive
(usually negative given the way that they have died or the reasons they
don't want to move on) and are intent on misleading, upsetting, scaring
and harming you. Some people believe that using ouija boards, automatic
writing etc can cause spirit possession. However, there is another
reason given as to why earthbound spirits may be so keen to encourage
the investigator to use these forms of divination. It would seem that
the already possessed person is coerced into communicating with spirit :

Spiritual possession

Earthbound
spirits are a danger to us as they may also gang up so to speak. There
appears to be hierarchy within the group with the strong in charge and
the weaker being bossed around. Apparently these gangs herd up any lost
spirits they find including children. There may even be a more
developed spirit overseeing the whole gang and this top dog can
sometimes even communicate with other spirits who are able to move more
freely and who may be in charge of a few more gangs of their own. Scary
stuff!

I find all this fascinating, yet quite disturbing! It actually really bothers me that there could be so many trapped and confused people in spirit form out there. Kind of makes me a bit more scared of dying - I'll be heading straight for that light! No hanging around for me.
